While I took valuable time out over the festive period, I have been busy talking about money.
IndoMoney
I was featured in the Irish Independent in print just after Christmas. The piece looked at January sales and long term value, and I shared how I think about spending decisions and linking everyday choices back to bigger financial goals, including pensions. https://www.independent.ie/business/money/from-hair-tools-to-bed-linen-savvy-shoppers-share-the-buy-it-once-bargains-theyll-be-snapping-up-in-the-january-sales/a127246585.html

Irish Examiner
Together with Jill Steeples, as Ms Moneypennies we wrote an opinion piece in the Irish Examiner on Auto Enrolment. The article made the point that Auto Enrolment is a good start, but it will not close the pension funding gap for women on its own. There is still a real need for engagement, planning, and support so women can build enough income for later life. https://www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/commentanalysis/arid-41762792.html
The Last Word
Yesterday, I spoke on The Last Word on Today FM about long term financial planning. We discussed research showing that many women feel less confident when it comes to planning ahead. That lack of confidence often leads to putting things off, even when taking small steps could make a big difference over time. https://www.todayfm.com/podcasts/the-last-word-with-matt-cooper/women-found-to-lack-confidence-in-long-term-financial-planning

All of this work ties back to the same theme. People do not need to be experts. They need clear information, space to ask questions, and the confidence to get started.
I am really looking forward to the year ahead. There is more to do in terms of education, open conversations, and practical support around money.
I will be continuing these discussions through the podcast, media work, and one to one planning, with a strong focus on helping people feel informed and in control of their financial decisions.
